Only a few notes do not show embedded photos in the notes, but there are links back to the related resources files. I did install Joplin and import EN enex files. I've downloaded but not yet installed Obsidian, so that will be the big next step. enex files can be imported into Joplin, including the formatted content (which is converted to Markdown), resources (images, attachments, etc.) and complete metadata (geolocation, updated time, created time, etc.)." I haven't tried it yet, but it looks interesting it could provide a way to add EN notes to Obsidian, and to TB (using the same D&D I've outlined for the demo of your workflow and the screenshots. Wow - TheBrain and Obsidian incredibly powerful together for writing!īTW, for those looking for an escape for their Evernote notes, I just found Joplin which states "Notes exported from Evernote via. As I wrote in Obsidian, after the first time I did this, The reverse process, of copy thoughts and their note contents from TB to Obsidian, is also easy, by using Ctrl-click to select them, then use right-click and copy on the Selection pane and then pasting into a note in Obsidian. The MD files dropped (as shortcuts) into TB will display in the note Content area, and can be edited there, and the edits will appear in the note in Obsidian, and vice versa. Here's an example, showing FC over TB, from which I've dragged and dropped some MD files in Obsidian to TB in the past. I use FileCenter as the app to drag from, rather than Windows File Explorer, because I can customize it, and it's always ready for my selections. So, even though I may have added a thought(s) in TB, it's an easy way to get it(them) into Obsidian for writing purposes (where I prefer to work). I don't do the reverse, that is D&D from TB to Obsidian, but I recently had an "aha" realization that I could select thoughts in TB, using Ctrl-click, copy the selected thoughts, and paste them into Obsidian. Thanks again for your helpful Yes, I drag and drop from Obsidian to TB for items that I've created first in Obsidian, and I want also to link them to some thought(s) in TB. I think it is interesting how you drag from Obsidian into TB, or is it vice versa? Can you provide a couple of examples? Reading more about ZK and building second brains has pushed me to stop doing website and article collecting without reviewing and adding a note, an extra filter that increases learning. And, as you have written, it also requires a few extra steps. Like you, I have problems with the BrainBox (now reported to support and they are investigating) which makes it unwieldy for fast web capture. TB seemed easier to start and quickly build sufficient profficiency. The learning curves with Obsidian and something like Notion seem a bit daunting to me. I am not liking the new EN app or new complications with exporting, or the cost of having to use it on more than two devices. But, they have to pay the suspect something like Obsidian, with a good community-developed add-on or extension for web capture, will be all I need if I can get it set up. It was mostly essential reference storage and search. In the end I liked Evernote for its webclipper and had almost 300 notes, so I am certainly not a power user. I have my preferred apps for tasks and project management and collaboration and I will continue to use them as part of my revamped system. I looked at Amplenote and others, but they all try to be too much. Also cutting costs by dropping some subscriptions. Thanks I'm parsing and purging my collected notes and trying to train myself to only save the necessary and meaningful, a la Zettelkasten (ZK), but not as religious. But, I've got 62,000 notes in EN, and as unhappy as I am with the reprogramming and lack of backlinking prospects in EN, I'm still clipping to EN. They do have a nice UI, with task and footnote features that I particularly like. The development team is former big users of EN, but they are a small team, and so their sustainability is uncertain. I imported some Evernotes into it, and it was very easy and smooth. PaddyVA wrote: I suggest you take a look at Amplenote if you want to get away from Evernote they have a free trial for two weeks.
